How Can We Help You Today?
The ILTE is the "teaching learning center" at IU Southeast. We are a resource designed to assist faculty with advancing and enhancing their teaching and learning.
We use a multi-faceted approach that will:
- provide opportunities to pursue professional development and improvement of teaching by offering a variety of workshops and symposia and fostering a culture of collegiality and excitement about teaching/learning excellence on campus;
- help faculty take advantage of rapidly changing technology, such as digital imaging, Oncourse (Indiana University's online course management tool) and electronic searches to facilitate effective student learning;
- integrate associate faculty into the professional development opportunities;
- assist faculty in developing effective strategies for selecting learning objectives, establishing effective course activities and assignments, and assessing student outcomes.

- February 24-- Creating community in online courses: An online application of team based Principles
Featuring Dr. Marcia Dixson
UC 122 Registration and breakfast open at 8:30--and workshop is from 9:00-12:00
We all work to create class environments where students connect with us, each other and the content. We want to encourage critical thinking and cooperative learning but need individual accountability. Can any/all of these occur in an entirely online environment? Yes! This workshop will discuss the use of such well supported pedagogical choices as team based learning, backward course design, and the principles of undergraduate education to require knowledge building, critical thinking, and interaction in your online course environment.
Dr. Marcia Dixson, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication at Indiana University- Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), has been successfully teaching online using and refining these ideas for almost ten years and researching online student engagement since 2004. She looks forward to helping you consider your unique challenges in teaching online and sharing some of the solutions that have worked in her communication courses. Bring your concerns, challenges, and questions about teaching the online portions of your hybrid courses or about teaching your courses fully online.

- February 29-- eText Book Fair
Stop by UC 127 anytime between 11:00 and 2:00 to visit with one of the IU-contracted eTextbook vendors, check out the eTexts they have available and get all your questions answered.
Michael Ellis from the ILTE will be available to demonstrate how eTexts look on iPads and laptops...you'll have lots of time to get acquainted with how they look on desktop computers! He'll also explain how print on demand works and what you need to tell your students.
- In UC 122 from 12:15-1:15: Ryan Hively, from CourseLoad (the tool which links your eText to Oncourse), will demonstrate all the fantastic interactive ways in which you can use CourseLoad to help maximize student's time on task and their learning all while giving them the opportunity to immerse themselves in your course content before they get to immerse themselves in your in-class or on-line course activities! (Ryan hasn't read this blurb yet!)
- Please Note: While CourseLoad and Oncourse are very tightly integrated, it is still a vendor and not an official IU product. Also, only eTextbooks selected from supported IU vendors can be used with CourseLoad.
- Get the most current details, the ISBN numbers of ALL available textbooks, and signup your course (deadline is March 4) at http://etexts.iu.edu
